The Bible is Awesome!

Not being sarcastic at all.  The bible is a great book, full of some incredible wisdom and insight.  I think I just want to share some scripture with you guys today.

Jesus on Socialism, Welfare and Health Care:

Philippians 4:19
"And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

Matthew 6:25
"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?"

Matthew 6:31-33
"Do not worry then, saying, "What will we eat?" or "What will we drink?"' or "What will we wear for clothing?" For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things."

Luke 12:29
"But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith! And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying."

Psalm 55:22
"Cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

Leviticus 25:35
"If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so he can continue to live among you"

Deuteronomy 15:4
"However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you."

Deuteronomy 15:7
"If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother."

Deuteronomy 15:11
"There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land."

1 Samuel 2:8
"He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor."

Psalm 82:3-4
"Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

Proverbs 16:19
"Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud."

Proverbs 21:13
"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered."

Ezekiel 34:3-4
"You eat the fat, you clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat ones, but you do not feed the sheep. The weak you have not strengthened, the sick you have not healed, the injured you have not bound up, the strayed you have not brought back, the lost you have not sought, and with force and harshness you have ruled them."

Acts 23;33-35
"I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel.  Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have served for my necessities, and for those who were with me.  I have shown you in everything, by laboring like this, that we need to support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive"

Jesus on Business, Labor, Taxes and Making Money:

Romans 13:5-7
"Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor."

Leviticus 19:9-10
“When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, neither shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest. And you shall not strip your vineyard bare, neither shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the Lord your God."

Deuteronomy 15:10
"Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to."

Proverbs 13:11
"Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow."

Ecclesiastes 5:10
"Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless."

Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

Luke 10:2
"He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

Luke 10:7
"Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house."

1 Timothy 5:18
"For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."

1 Timothy 6: 7-10
"For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

James 5:4
"Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty."

Colossians 4:1
"Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven."

Jesus on Love and Marriage:

Hosea 2:19-20
"And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.  I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the Lord."

Hebrews 13:4
"Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled."

Romans 13:10
"Love worketh no ill to his neighbor - for love is the fulfilling of the law."

Amos 3:3
"Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?"

Proverbs 10:12
"Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs."

1 Corinthians 13:4–8a
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

1 Peter 4:8
"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."

Matthew 18:19-20
"Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

Hebrews 10:24-25
"And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near."

Some pretty good stuff in there, I'm going to have to keep reading and sharing!
